OK, well... I thought my old LJ was still around, but I guess maybe not. I'll have to investigate more when I have time.

Today is the 4th of July, and I am at a terminal in Corona del Mar, CA. Lisa is preparing her trailer for another run to storage, before packing up the final load (and then seeing what more has to either be abandoned or moved to storage or brought north by me).

Anthony's stuff is pretty much all packed, at least all of his important stuff. Or at least, the stuff he feels is important.

I was laid off at Verizon on December 31, 2015, and have been looking for employment ever since. Unsuccessfully looking, that is. I've had a lot of interviews, several follow-up interviews, and a few almost-final interviews, but nothing that has led to an offer of employment. I have used all of my financial reserves to fund life so far, but my money is at an end. Lisa is taking Hannah (her daughter) and Anthony (our son) to Austin TX, based on her theory that she can find work there. I am heading to Santa Clara County (also known as "Silicon Valley") to continue to look for work while living out of my car (and other people's couches, spare rooms, whathave you).

Elna has graciously offered me living space at her home, and while her offer is open and indefinite, I don't know how long it will be before I get on her nerves. Obviously, the sooner I am employed and renting a room somewhere, the better for everyone.

I would, at one time, parked myself at my Dad's house, but when he heard that I had Anthony, Lisa, and Hannah to settle as well, he blew up and told me to never come home, and that if I showed up he'd call the police to have me removed. My Dad is both kind of psycho and prone to dementia-like outbursts - whether or not he thinks the better of it, he's so unstable that its probably better to stay out of the target area. Shame, as if he wanted to he could help us all quite a bit - but he doesn't want.

It seems unlikely we'll be actually leaving today (her target date, I was assuming travel on Tuesday the 5th), but she spent the week dithering around instead of actually doing the work of moving, and while I did my best to help - I packed up the kitchen and living room, and did a ton of loads of laundry, for example - there is only so much I can do. I can't sort her clothes into keep/stay/storage piles.

All of my stuff has pretty much travelled to the storage space of Chris & Darne, or is in my car. Anthony's stuff is packed and waiting for storage run, or the trailer.

Ah, the trailer - another "brilliant" project of Lisa's for moving more and leaving less (although she's leaving behind quite a few things). She had this concept of buying lumber and building up a shell on the trailer so that she could fit her CA King mattress (which she should never have bought in the first place, but that's another story - she could not conceive that I wouldn't have a job by now, and while I couldn't either, I was tired of having what I call "Rule #3" arguments). It needed to be completed by Saturday, and its still not done (but almost done enough to be useful).

So... finish what we can of it today, take a load to storage, pack the car and trailer (my car is already packed except for my futon and alarm clock), and put everything else possible into storage. Then heigh ho, to the roads we go.

With luck, it'll only be off by a day.

Hey Colorado Springs drivers:

* Snow does not last all year long. When the road is dry, you don't need to make sure that you've got a half-mile between you and oncoming traffic before you make that left turn.

* Use your f*cking turn signals!

* Learn to parallel park. Within four feet of the curb, that is...

Just over a year since my last post. Guess this is kind of pointless, these days.

If Obama is going to be impeached, lets see the GOP do it for his actual criminal acts:

* The commander-in-chief is not lawfully empowered to ignore treaties duly ratified by the Senate. Obama has willfully failed to enforce the torture treaty, signed by Reagan and duly ratified by the Senate, that compels him to investigate and prosecute torture.

* Obama violated the War Powers Resolution when committing U.S. troops to Libya without Congressional approval.

* Obama and attorney-general Eric Holder have decided to remain in breach of the Geneva Conventions and be complicit themselves in covering up the war crimes of their predecessors. He is a clear and knowing accessory to war crimes, and should at some point face prosecution as well, if the rule of law means anything in the USA anymore.

I am not really around here much anymore, as Facebook has inherited most of my rants and social commentary (not that I'm sure that there is a functional difference, for me). Not quite ready to pull the plug here, but... yeah. I can see that day coming. Fortunately, there is no cost for just having a place for blathering )

Note from me: I was initially suspicious about this, since the notice below doesn't say how much of one's V-gift donation actually goes to Planned Parenthood. But I found the answer in the original post's comments: 100%. All the money you spend to shower your friends with Planned Parenthood v-gifts will go to Planned Parenthood.

For those of you who don't approve of Planned Parenthood, your response is easy: Don't buy one of these. None of your LJ subscription money goes to PP. If you'd rather donate an equivalent amount to an adoption charity, or another organization providing inexpensive or free medical assistance, please do; all charity organizations are hurting for funds in this economy.

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).

During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but they'd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.

Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Well, the bandages came off two weeks ago, but a week of compression socks abraded the new skin into more sores, so they put the bandages back on. Two steps forward, one step back - but a baby step, when all is said and done, and much dried dead skin was taken off.

...although some days, it would no doubt be less painful...

On "aggressive" medication for getting rid of my liquid retention.

On medication to lower my cholestoral

On medication to lower my blood pressure.

I see the docs at least once a week, and each time they draw blood.

next - some of the edema wounds on my legs are becoming infected, so they're sending me to the Wound Clinic for that, so that down the road I don't lose the legs...
